60th Annual All-Hawaii State Karate Championship

Saturday, November 23 in Oahu

The FKU Dojo will be moving. Check back for updates!

07/24/19 - It’s official! We have our new space at 920 S. Holgate St. in Seattle, about 2 miles southwest of our current location. Some build-out needs to get done before we move in, and that is expected to start in October.

07/14/19 - FKU will remain at its current location through the end of the calendar year 2019.

06/18/19 - The 1426 S. Jackson St. building has officially been sold. FKU is actively working on securing the new space.

06/10/19 - The NW corner of the dojo has been set up as a changing area for female students.

06/04/19 - FKU Board members have been working hard, but need your help! Items in the women’s changing area/office should be taken home on/before June 8. This will help us streamline set-up of the new interim dressing area.

05/29/19 - The sale of the dojo is projected to be finalized on or about June 14. We have a new space identified about a mile south of the current location. Details to come…

Ivana.jpg

Multimedia Journalist

FKU would like to thank Ivana Rihter (editor, writer and digital storyteller based in Los Angeles) for coming to Seattle in August, spending some time training with us, and getting to know our dojo. She is constantly looking for stories off the beaten path, and writes about social justice issues, the underground art world and everything in between. We’re looking forward to seeing what she’s put together about FKU!

For the fundraising weekend, they turn Girl Scout camp into Glamp, creating a version of camp for adult women to enjoy with activities ranging from horseback riding to yoga, flower arranging to archery. Enough funds are raised each September to supply a scholarship to every girl who applies for financial aid. FKU is proud to be a part of this awesome weekend!

Movie Night!

September 28, 2019

Synopsis: A martial arts rock band goes up against a band of motorcycle ninjas who have tightened their grip on Florida's narcotics trade.

Miami Connection is a 1987 independent martial arts film starring Y.K. Kim, who also wrote and produced the feature. Originally, the film was critically maligned and received poor box office return upon release. It remained unseen for decades until Drafthouse Films restored the film for a proper release in 2012. The film was released on DVD, Blu-ray, limited-edition VHS, and various digital download options on December 11, 2012. Since then, the film has been better received by audiences and has garnered a cult following.

Join us at the dojo at 6pm for Movie Night!
